Photography by Kim Kramer Raaklijn is a five-year project initiated by Rita Hoofwijk, artistically dwelling in the nebula of invisible boundaries between festival-goers and the protected nature where rare species grow, through the perspectives of different artists.

My installation brought these locations together through a series of maps, presented as a barn-sized page from a notebook, laid across the floor. The maps are marked with notes and fragments of observation: my way of remembering the island and the places that exist at the edges of the festival.

The maps are felted in wool, a by-product of the island, where sheep are shorn just before the festival. Mapping becomes a way of holding and conceptualising information, bringing together eidetic maps formed through conversations and memories with panoptic maps derived from satellite imagery.
